Selling: Order Blank Close

One of the most effective closes is simply to begin entering the order information. No questions, no “yes” or “no,” just a casual start to filling in the order. Occasionally ask confirming questions (e.g., your name is …). Don’t say anything at the end, just hand over the order and pen. People love to complete works that have been started. It is part of our nature.

I know a good speaker. Does well. And I’d always wondered how he does better than other speakers. I watched him working the crowd during one workshop. He always had a clipboard with him that had an order form on it. He often would simply hand the clipboard over to the client and say, “You will know the right (Write) thing to do now, just fill out the top portion of the order form, name and address.” Then he would shut up. I was amazed at how many people just started filling it in.
