Work the Business, Not in it!

If you want to become an expert you should know that nothing is easy in this world. Whether you want to become an expert cook or a real estate agent you will have to work day in and day out to be the best. If you want to become an expert it will take 10,000 hours of study and work.

If you are planning to do it yourself you will be making the biggest mistake of your life. DIY is not only costly but also it might take you 30 to 40 years to become an expert in a specific field.  If you want to be an expert remember that it is not a ONE MAN SHOW.

10,000 hours is a lot. Lets say you want to become an expert in Real Estate (Property).  You decide to give it some time, and become an expert over time.

You should know that if you will spend 5 hours of your week to learning a particular topic it means that you will spend 38.4 years to become an expert.

So. Then you decide to invest more time per week to get to your goals faster. See below the time requirements, to get to Mastership:

  • If you dedicate 10 hours per week it will take 19.2 years
  • 20 hours will take you 8.6 years
  • 40 hours will take 4.3 years

OMG. “It is too hard”, “I give up” are often the next comments. There is a better way to get to success. We might want to listen to the advice of Henry Ford:

“I have a row of electric push-buttons on my desk, and by pushing the right button, I can summon to my aid men who can answer ANY question I desire concerning the business to which I am devoting most of my efforts. “

Strategy: Don’t become the expert, but manage the experts.

One of the best strategies that is used by Successful people  is that they do not become an expert but they hire one. Pay the price for success. They (experts) paid the price. They spent the time. They made the mistakes. No need for you to make the mistakes they have made. All you need to do is hire an expert and profit from their hard work and expertise

Strategy: Don’t DIY, Manage the process.

One of the biggest mistakes that you can make in your life is trying to do everything yourself. Many folks will lose 10 to 50 K in mistakes, “learning”. DIY is for amateurs. If you are a professional, you manage the contractor, you manage the lawyer (solicitor), you manage the agents, you don’t become one. Manage your team.
